Pulau Rebak Besar, an island located southwest of Langkawi,
has been earmarked for tourism development. The island has one
of the most sheltered marinas in Langkawi. It was necessary to
conduct a marine resource inventory survey in the vicinity of
the island's waters. A study into the coastal processes and
sediment movement was made to ascertain the impacts of
development. The study also included assessment of navigation
and conditions within the completed marina basin. Locations
for jetties on the island and on Langkawi were also selected
based on wave activity and nearshore bathymetry.
